Fort Pickett gets new name in honor of Medal of Honor recipient



Ticket in Blackstone officially has a new name. Today the Army changed it to Fort Barfoot in honor of Colonel Van T. Barfoot. He's a World War II Medal of Honor recipient with a lot of Virginia ties. Fort Lee and Fort AP Hill, the other two Virginia bases named after Confederate generals, are still on track to have their names changed. Virginia Senator Mark Warner tweeted this message tonight. It's long past time we stopped naming our military bases after generals who fought against the U.
