FAU Owls advance to Final Four
tonight. Congratulations to the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team. The Owls advanced to their first ever final four appearance with a victory tonight over Kansas State at Madison Square Garden WPTV and ESPN 1063. Theo Dorsey was at the game. He is live tonight in New York City with more on this incredible Owls victory. Theo, it must have been fantastic to see that in person. John look, I'm not leaving the garden until they pull me out of this thing man.
The magic we witnessed over the past few days here from the Florida Atlantic Owls. The nine seed. I mean, as you can see, you might not be able to see. They're turning off lights progressively behind me. They're taking the cord up. I mean again, literally they might drag myself and James the photographer right on out of Madison Square Garden. But when they do just know we're booking our tickets for Houston, the nine seed takes down three seed Kansas State 79 76.
They're moving on to the final four. The first nine seed to make the final four since Wichita State in 2013, and they're looking to be maybe the first nine seed to go all the way through and win the national championship. Now before I take you to the locker room to hear from the players as they celebrate the win, I just got to leave you with this. Keep in mind as you see these guys celebrate on the court as you see the players know this might be the single biggest sports moment in Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast history. I mean, we're living it as it goes, and there's still more to the chapters in this book, but take a listen to the players in the locker room following a 79 76 upset win that's sending them packing to Houston. It's unbelievable. It's surreal.
I just feel like I'm floating right now. Probably take me a couple of minutes for wins. Man, actually any coaching in the country or hardest to win a March Madness game, you got big time coaches that never won a March Madness game. You got coaches that only one one. So to be able to say that man, I've won four. Four three four four. Man, it's it's crazy.
I guess when you win so much, Giancarlo losing track of how many wins he got now for people keeping school at home. This is the first year that Florida Atlantic has ever won a tournament game in the NCAA tournament. They've won four of them. Two more with me. The national championship in men's basketball. Division one, a national championship will be coming home to Boca Raton entering this NCAA tournament. They had 300 to one odds according to Caesar Sportsbook to win a national title.
John, I don't know if you're keeping score at home either, but I think those odds might be coming down a little bit for FAU. The first team to punch their ticket to the final four again. I can't wait to punch my ticket or purchase mine to get to Houston. My hometown John, I know you're celebrating back home soon. We're going to go celebrate in the streets with the Isles fans, but nothing buddy Lation and nothing, but just celebration and also remember what Dusty May and the folks keep saying here jobs still not done. From Madison Square Garden, Theo Dorsey for ESPN 1063 on WPTV.
