Details still unclear following Farmington police shooting

the first call of shots fired over scanners around 327 yesterday afternoon. Now, Farmington police have identified the victim and the officer involved shooting as 25 year old Chase Allen. The police chief told Fox 13 news that he's certain his officers were in fear of their life. Fox 13 news reporter Emily Tenser says there's still unanswered questions the public wants to know. The third officer involved shooting in three years in Farmington took the life of a 25 year old Wednesday and the community is waiting for more answers from police. There's a lot missing from this, right? What the circumstances were? That's Chris Burbank, retired police chief of Salt Lake City. And I will argue there is no license plate infraction in this country that is worth the loss of someone's life on Wednesday around 3 30 25 year old Chris Allen was pulled over in a post office parking lot for driving with no license plates.

The officer requested backup and according to police, Allen refused to exit the vehicle during an attempt to get him out. Multiple shots were fired. That's how we trained and I know my guys and if they fired shots, I'm certain they were in fear of their lives. Allen was shot inside the car. Despite Fox 13's requests for answers, Farmington police have still not said if Allen had a gun, Chris Burbank's opinion. It is the responsibility of the government to tell the public what we engaged in. Now five officers are on administrative leave that makes up 20% of Farmington's police force.

Burbank says their small numbers are no excuse for a traffic stop turned fatal. This is not unique to just cities or problems, but we're seeing this and it really is again a failure of our system that we can change reporting in Farmington. Emily tensor Foss 13 News, Utah.
