Twitter lays off 10% of current workforce: report

More jobs appear to be going at Twitter. The social network has laid off another 200 or so staff, or about 10% of its remaining workforce. That was according to a report by the New York Times late on Sunday. The layoffs reportedly hit product managers, data scientists and engineers who worked on machine learning and other features. Earlier in the weekend, the information said Twitter had laid off dozens of staff on Saturday in a bid to offset a plunge in revenue. The firm did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. If confirmed, it would mark just the latest cull since the company was taken over by Elon Musk.

Back in November, it laid off about 3,700 workers. At the time, Musk said Twitter was facing a massive drop in revenue as advertisers pulled spending amid concerns about content moderation. The network has recently started sharing revenue from advertisements with some of its content creators. It was acquired by Musk in October in a deal valued at $44 billion.
