Tennessee guardsmen who died in helicopter crash identified

Now we continue to follow developing news out of Alabama where two Tennessee National Guard pilots died following a training crash. Their helicopter went down just after three yesterday afternoon and this evening we're learning more about them. Five Alert Anchor Hunter Hogan joining us now Hunter you talked to some people who knew these two men. Yeah and everyone says they were just some incredible guys. This here is Danny Randolph to his left is Daniel Wadham both were chief warrant officers with the Tennessee National Guard. Metro police also just confirming that Daniel served the city as a patrol officer for four years before he resigned in good standing back in 2020. We are learning though they both leave behind wives and their kids back home here in Middle Tennessee and family I've been talking to you today say they died doing what they love and that was flying helicopters and serving their country.

We know they were piloting a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter when it crashed yesterday falling from the sky during a training mission. We're still unsure what caused it to go down but federal and local authorities remain on the ground tonight trying to piece together what happened. Officials working that scene say it took a while to figure out who that chopper belonged to because it had been burned so badly. We know they crashed just yards away from a busy road and also a big subdivision with friends saying it is no coincidence that these men were able to spare the lives of others and not hit anybody down below. So many though wanting to know what happened up there in the air from those I've been talking to these guys were as experienced as they come both had flown thousands of hours before and had been with the Tennessee National Guard for more than a decade. So I know these families are wanting some answers the community is wanting answers and of course we'll keep you updated as soon as we learn more from investigators. Guys back to you.
