New KCI includes world's first accessible, all-inclusive play zone inside an airport

Before the first flight leaves, a feature of the New Kinsley International Airport is making history around the world. KCI is the first airport to have an all accessible playground and KNBC 9's Peyton Headlight is inside the new terminal with a look at that play zone Peyton. Right, Laura, well it is just on the other side of the security gates inside of Concourse B and it has something for kids of all abilities. It's just another great way that KCI is promoting inclusivity. We want to be the most inclusive city in the world. It's the first of its kind. Thank you.

I love this and its home is Kansas City. Three, two, one. Monday KCI unveiled its new accessible and inclusive airport play zone. I am blown away. I have chills for parents like Ali O'Grady. It's extra meaningful. It makes my heart just blow.

O'Grady's four-year-old son has autism. The thought that my son could come here and have an area where he could play and interact with other kids and be a part of, you know, something special like dozens of other children. This space was designed with him in mind. This is the magic of what we're doing. It allows all kids to play together and form friendships and we want to be seen as a friendliest place in the world. It's the first time in a long time that we've seen this play zone. It's the first time in a long time that we've seen KCI worked to make this play zone a reality.

The first in the world. That is a lot to say for our city. It's just a very, very proud moment as a Kansas city and to be here and to see our community be built and to see my son be thought of and included in our community. They're glad Kansas City is a place where you can see the city of Kansas City. There's also a universal changing room for kids and adults, a sensory room and a flight simulator so you can practice getting on the plane with your kids before you actually do.
