'Don't know exactly why I'm being targeted': Indian River County School board chair on removal list

Three treasure coast school board members are on Governor Ron DeSantis's School Board so called target list. The governor came up with a list of 14 school board members across the state to target and defeat in the 2024 election. Angel Rose reached out to those three in our area and has their reaction and the WPBF 25 news exclusive. Indian River County School Board Chair Dr. Peggy Jones is a lifelong educator here on the treasure coast. I just thought that as an educator in every position I've had from coach, dean, assistant principal, principal, executive director that I had the base knowledge to help our students and our parents in the community. She says she doesn't know why she's on a list of school board members identified for removal by Governor Ron DeSantis.

You know and I don't know exactly why I'm being targeted so I'd like to turn it around on him and the people who are targeting me because every decision I made on the school board or as a principal or a dean or teacher was an investment interest of all students and I stand by that. In this tweet from the chairman of the Florida GOP the list features 14 school board members across the state who do not protect parental rights and have failed to protect students from woke ideologies. Fellow board member Brian Barefoot is also on that list. His response, I was both surprised and disappointed that my name was on such a list since I am the complete opposite of being woke. Jack Kelly is also on the list. He sits on the St. Lucie County School Board.

He released his statement which in part reads someone didn't do their homework. They must be talking about a different person or another Jack Kelly. The dispersions are incorrect and do not represent any of my policies or past practices. Anyone knows when there's a bully you stand up to the bully if you believe you are right and I believe I'm right. In Indian River County Angela Rosier WPBF 25 news.
