Attorney General Merrick Garland Testifies on Alleged Political Bias at Justice Department

During a five-hour House Judiciary Committee hearing, Attorney General Merrick Garland clashed with GOP lawmakers over alleged political bias at the Justice Department. Republican lawmakers confronted Garland over what they call a two-tiered justice system, accusing him of weaponizing the department. Garland hit back hard, saying he is not the President's lawyer or Congress's prosecutor, and that the Justice Department works for the American people. Democrats on the panel accused their Republican colleagues of using the hearing to attack President Biden and his family, spreading absolute lies, and wasting countless taxpayer dollars on baseless investigations into the Bidens.

Republicans Accuse Garland of Misleading Congress Over Special Counsel Investigation of Hunter Biden

GOP lawmakers also grilled Garland over the special counsel investigation of Hunter Biden, alleging that Garland misled Congress by saying there was no interference in the investigation. Two IRS whistleblowers testified under oath that the DOJ gave preferential treatment to the President's son and that special counsel David Weiss told multiple people he wasn't in charge. Weiss denied the whistleblowers' accounts, and Garland refused to discuss the internal Justice Department deliberations regarding the Hunter Biden case. Republicans accused Garland of covering up evidence that contradicts his testimony, while Democrats called the hearing a political stunt.

Georgia Election Case Moves to Federal Court

Attorneys for three of former President Donald Trump's co-defendants in the Georgia election case argued that the charges should be moved from state to federal court. The three so-called fake electors claim they were acting as federal officers back in 2020, and they all pleaded not guilty. Meanwhile, a new key witness has emerged in the state's case, Lynn Wood. Once a prominent Atlanta lawyer and a big-time Trump supporter, Wood is now a witness for District Attorney Fawney Willis. Wood filed a series of lawsuits based on fraudulent claims of a stolen election after Trump lost in 2020.

Meanwhile down in Georgia, attorneys for three of Trump's co-defendants in the election case tried to convince a judge that the charges should be moved from state to federal court.
