Summary:
- Trump to undergo standard arraignment procedures.
- Security presence at the courthouse will be extensive.
Our coverage on Trump's arraignment continues with CBS2's Elijah Westbrook, who is joining us right here in the studio with more on what we can expect.
Yeah, so essentially sources are telling us that Trump will be treated just like any other defendant in an arraignment. So let's think about the logistics of all of this. He'll be brought into the courthouse, he'll be brought upstairs, he will then get his mug shot taken, he will also then get fingerprinted, followed by his irises getting scanned for biometric identity. As we just heard in the story there, security is going to be extremely tight surrounding the jailhouse there. We'll be comprised of Atlanta police, sheriff's deputies, as well as secret service officials.
So we don't have an official date just yet, although prosecutors right now are eyeing March 4th as the date that they would like to see all of this play out. One thing I do want to mention is that this could be the first time we will see a case like this get played out on television because there is a law in Georgia that states that still photography plus regular television cameras are allowed in the courtroom. So it'll be very interesting to see all this play out literally live on TV. That will be different. Yes, yes. Elijah, thank you very much. No problem. And stay with CBS 2 all day for continuing live coverage on the Georgia elections case as Trump is set to surrender. To read the criminal indictment, head to cbsnewyork.com.
