Summary:

We could hear from a Fulton County grand jury as early as today about possible criminal charges against former President Donald Trump. Added security measures already taking place today at the Fulton County Courthouse in anticipation of this announcement finally coming down.

Take a look at what is now in place here at the Fulton County Courthouse just about an hour ago at 5 AM Sheriff's deputies blocked off this portion of prior street in front of the courthouse to all vehicle traffic. There were already barricades up, keeping people from parking near the building. But now this portion of Pirate Street closed to vehicle traffic all in anticipation of an announcement from the grand jury. It was a special purpose grand jury that spent months investigating allegations of election interference. 75 witnesses appeared and in its final report, the special grand jury said some of those witnesses may have committed acts of perjury. The evidence gathered there is now in the hands of a criminal grand jury. Just last week, it was a federal grand jury in Washington DC that indicted former President Trump. Prosecutors there say the former president spread lies in an effort to overturn the 2020 vote in several states, including Georgia.

Attorney Daryl Cohen, who is not connected to the Trump case, says if the former president is indicted, it would be an unprecedented case here in Georgia. Donald Trump is running for president. Again, I'm convinced that they will ask for continually asked for to be continued or postponed due to the fact that he's running for president and he's an ex president. We've never had this happen before. So Jerry, this would be the former president's fourth indictment since leaving office if this comes down in Fulton County. What is his legal team saying right now? Well, one of his attorneys appeared on NBC's Today Show over the weekend, and he said that Donald Trump truly believes that he won the 2020 election and that it was the former president's first amendment right to speak out about what he believes were acts of fraud. You'll hear more from that attorney coming up in the next half hour.

Stay tuned as we await further developments in this unfolding legal situation.
