MTV cancels live airing of 'Movie & TV' awards after host Drew Barrymore pulls out

The broadcast ran into major hurdles when stars like Drew Barrymore dropped out. Then Jamie Lee Curtis said she would no longer present. At the heart of the strike, our contract talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Writers want a pay increase, more staffing on shows and higher residuals for streaming platforms, among other asks. The studios have countered back, saying they offered a generous raise and residuals for streaming, but the main point of contention remains staffing requirements.
