Power outages remain Sunday morning for thousands

with out power this morning and AEP says they should prepare for a multi day outage after strong winds knocked down trees and power lines all across the state. Good morning and thank you for waking up with NBC for today. I'm Matthew Hurchick and I'm Cynthia Hill. This was the frightening scene on Michigan Avenue yesterday. After some strong winds, our reporter, Anna Hoffman shot this video on the way to work. She says wind knocked off a tarp of someone's roof, which hit the power line, knocking it down. It fell on a car and caught fire.

And here's a look at the current AEP outage map. It shows more than 72,000 customers are currently without power. Crews have been working throughout the night to restore power, but as AEP says, customers should prepare for a multi day outage. The AEP says it's a good idea to restore power for a multi day outage. We expect an update on restoration efforts sometime today.
