HISTORY: No 1-seeds in Elite Eight 🤯

This is absolutely crazy. This year's March Madness just made history. Since seeding started in 1979, every Elite 8 has had at least one number one seed in it. There have only been four times that there's been only one number one seed. 2000, 2011, 2013, and 2022. But there has never been an Elite 8 without any number one seeds. Literally never.

The last time a Final 4 didn't have a one seed was in 2011. That year the Final 4 was also in Houston. Weird. And Yukon took home the title. With number one Alabama and Houston's losses on Friday night in the Sweet 16, Purdue's loss in the first round, and Kansas knocked out. This year's Elite 8 will be the first time in history we have one without a one seed. And that's not the only first.

This is the first time in history San Diego State advanced to the Elite 8. And the first Mountain West conference team. Not sure anyone could have guessed any of that.
