Game preview: Kansas State Wildcats square off against the Florida Atlantic Owls in Elite 8

You know, March badness is back in Kansas City. T Mobile Center hosting two sweet 16 games this weekend. Number one seed Houston will take on number five seed Miami tonight at 615. KMC names Peyton Hedley met up with some fans at a pep rally ahead of the game. But first, let's talk about K state and that thrilling win last night back live to KMC 9s Dennis Evans with the Wildcats in New York City, Madison Square Garden. And we're hearing from the cats today ahead of tomorrow night's elite eight game. Dennis.

You know, what's made this whole thing so fun is this K state basketball team is having fun. The players are loose. They're relaxed and they are enjoying everything that has come with making it to the elite eight. Now an attitude like that. It starts with the head coach in this case, head coach Jerome Tang. You know, it's hard to believe that it was a year ago today that Jerome Tang was actually introduced as the head coach of the Kansas State Wildcats. And we all know the story.

He took over a program. They had just two scholarship players, but he promised to build a winning program and elevate basketball in Manhattan. Well, he's done just that. And now he has the cats here in Manhattan. And they are just one win over FAU away from the elite eight and all started exactly a year ago. We're going to go to the NCAA tournament that the big 12 media day. People thought I was crazy and now that we are here, they're like, man, what great faith.

And so we've just lived by this crazy faith of believing in each other that we can accomplish anything together. If we love each other and we play with joy. You know what? Just being around that guy, he is so infectious. You can see it in the players. You can see it's now starting to rub off on the Kansas State fans as we were going into the locker room last night after the game. He was standing there at the door, smiling, laughing and fist bumping members of the media and saying, Hey guys, sorry, I know we're running up your bill. You're gonna have to stay over in New York a little bit longer.

We're not ready to go home. He's the kind of coach that you definitely want to cheer for a great guy and he has these cats believing and they can possibly win it all. Reporting live from New York, Dennis Evans, KBC nine news. If you think that was a big crowd last night, just wait. Wildcat fans backed into social Waldo on Broadway last night, cheering on K State. The Kansas City catbackers hosted this one and they'll they're gonna have another one tomorrow night. Same place 74 25 Broadway.

It all begins around tomorrow tomorrow afternoon around three o'clock. Obviously before that five o'clock game.
