Deadly crash shuts down part of I-24 West in Robertson County

We are continuing to learn more information about a deadly accident that happened earlier this morning on I-24 in Robertson County. Breonna Hamlin is on the scene now and we've heard reports that a number of children were among the dead. Is that right? That's right, Jennifer. So so far we've heard from Robertson County sources that there were six total killed in this tragic crash. And yes, we are hearing that children were involved and we're waiting to get confirmed just how many of those six are children. So sources in Robertson County also tell us that two other people were injured. One was taken to Skyline Medical to be treated and another has life threatening injuries and was taken to Vanderbilt.

The person who allegedly caused the crash was not injured and investigation is underway for what that person will be charged with. That driver is in custody. Now I-24 here in Robertson County, near Pleasant View, is closed between exits 19 and 24. It's expected to be closed for a long period of time. THP and TIDAR are at the scene. They're directing traffic away. And so tow trucks have come through to remove the cars that are here.

We have a tow truck taking away a pickup truck that we saw crashed into a barrier that was right here behind me. And so we are still waiting to hear all the details of just how many cars are involved and you know, how many children were involved and we'll hope to report more later as we learn more. Thank you.
