They still have not yet ID those seven individuals that were killed in this explosion. Meanwhile, the community they are putting their arms around these families and supporting them where they can. Now, as you can see, this is what people are going to wake up to this morning. We are just about a block away from where this explosion happened on site this morning is writing police as they do have this entire area blocked off and you can still see heavy construction equipment on site. Now earlier this morning, they were clearing away piles of concrete, but as we know, this is definitely just the start of cleanup. Now we were here over the weekend as rescue crews worked tirelessly into Sunday evening inspecting the rubble at the R and Palmer Company. By late Sunday, the six and seventh bodies were removed from the rubble and officials are asking everyone to be patient as they work to get families information, resources and closure.
Now this morning, those investigation efforts continue into the cause of Friday's explosion and out of precaution. Three other buildings around the site have been condemned. We're told seven people were killed 10 hospitalized, of which six were released and the company posted on their website in part quote, we have lost close friends and coglics and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of all who have been impacted and also helping those impacted is united way along with Berks County Community Foundation together. They've created a disaster recovery fund. We'll be distributing first to those families that have have lost loved ones. Second, we'll be concentrating on individuals and families who have been displaced from their home or have been displaced from their job. The response to this will likely be significant because that's what this community does.
It comes together in times of crisis to support each other. And once again, we're told that the explosion and the cause of it is still under investigation. Jim Janell Long road ahead there. Wakisha. Thank you for that update there. Six.
